We are recruiting a Café All-Rounder – Kitchen & Front of House

We’re looking for a friendly, practical and enthusiastic Café All-Rounder to join our small team at Chiddingstone Stores & Café.
We’re an independent country café in the heart of historic Chiddingstone, serving freshly prepared breakfasts and lunches alongside homemade cakes, bakes and savouries. We make and bake everything ourselves, and we’re looking for someone who enjoys good food, takes pride in what they do and is just as happy working in the kitchen as they are serving customers.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll move between kitchen preparation, cooking, baking, making coffees and serving front of house. You might already have kitchen or café experience, or you might be keen to learn and develop new skills. A positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to get stuck in are just as important as experience.
What you'll be doing
- Kitchen preparation and cooking: Helping prepare and cook our breakfast and lunch menu, preparing ingredients and making our savouries and other homemade food.
- Baking: Helping with our homemade cakes, bakes and other treats.
- Coffee and drinks: Learning to use our espresso machine and preparing coffees, teas and other drinks to a good standard.
- Front of house: Welcoming customers, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and helping create a friendly experience for everyone who visits.
- Keeping things running smoothly: Washing up, cleaning, restocking and keeping the kitchen and café tidy and organised.
- Working as a team: Moving between kitchen and front-of-house duties depending on what’s needed throughout the day.
What we're looking for
- Someone who enjoys food and is interested in cooking and baking, whether experienced or keen to learn.
- A friendly, approachable person who enjoys dealing with customers.
- Someone happy to work across both the kitchen and front of house.
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to spot what needs doing.
- Reliability, a good work ethic and pride in doing things well.
- The ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a small team.
- Weekend availability is essential, as we’re open seven days a week.
